Assessment
District assessments focus primarily on supporting each student’s individual learning growth. They collect not only performance data but also growth data, which is essential for guiding instruction, evaluating programs, and supporting student interventions and enrichment opportunities.
Lindbergh students participate in state, district, and classroom assessments, and the Teaching and Learning department reviews overall assessment data publicly with the Board of Education each July.

Why We Assess Students
District assessments serve a variety of critical functions, all aimed at enhancing student success and improving educational programs. They allow us to measure student performance and growth, which helps to inform teacher instruction and determine the appropriate course placement and instructional needs for each student. The data gathered also helps to evaluate district programs, inform decisions about district resource allocation, and evaluate the college and career readiness of students, providing a crucial layer of accountability for district stakeholders. Furthermore, by measuring student growth in reading, math, and social-emotional and behavioral competencies, these assessments support our district's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), a framework that provides targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities.
District Assessment Plan
Lindbergh's District Assessment Plan provides an overview of the tools we use to evaluate student growth and learning, including district assessments, assessments for Gifted Education and state-required assessments. This plan is updated annually and approved by the Board of Education.
Assessment Tools
Lindbergh uses a variety of tools to measure student growth. Our most meaningful tools, which are administered by the district, measure much more than just a student’s performance on a certain date and time. They are given multiple times throughout the year to measure growth and progress over time, in addition to specific areas where improvement is needed. High-quality assessments are also nationally normed, meaning that they measure student progress against students across the country.
Interpreting Assessment Results
Assessment fulfills a vital role in today's educational environment. The results are often a major force in shaping public perceptions of the abilities of our students and the quality of our schools.
As a primary tool for educators and policymakers, assessment is used for many important purposes. Educators use assessment results to help improve teaching and learning, and to evaluate programs and schools. Policy decisions are often based on assessment data.
Because of its important role, educational assessment is used in every classroom, school, district and state. It is vital to innovation, high standards and educational excellence.
Our interpretation guides are designed to help you understand and interpret your student's assessment data.
