A Heart to Serve – Hands to Help

Since Lindbergh School District’s inception in 1949, Lindbergh staff and students have raised money and donated time to assist those in need throughout their community. Support has helped those close to home as well as those far away. In 2005, more than $22,000 was donated in a little over 24 hours to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the past 14 years, Lindbergh elementary schools raised more than $300,000 to assist the American Heart Association through Jump Rope for Heart. When needed, every school has stepped up in all sorts of ways, going “above and beyond” for others.

LECE Cooks for Angels' Arms

Several members of the Lindbergh Early Childhood Education (LECE) staff prepared a full meal for Angels’ Arms Foster Care. They prepared 12 servings of pigs in a blanket, baked beans, green beans with bacon and onions, macaroni and cheese (from scratch) and a fresh fruit salad. Dessert was not forgotten, as they baked chocolate chip cookies and made ice cream sandwiches.
Much of the food for the meal was donated by the LECE staff at Concord School. The food was delivered by the “chefs” to the Angels’ Arms home in South County.

Five Long Elementary School families met for four weeks in April to participate in a “Faith in Action” Bible study. Part of the study was to complete a service project. The parents and kids worked together on several projects at Nancy Braneky’s home. Braneky is a disabled resident of Affton. Her home received a new bathroom vanity and light, new phone line, new heating/cooling vents in every room and more! “We are proud of all the hard work the kids did to help Nancy,” stated Stephanie Ford, Long parent.

Service from Truman Buddies

Truman Elementary School students in second and fifth grade classes cut, counted, glued and assembled "Children are Golden" ribbons for the Foundation for Children with Cancer. Students then sold the ribbons in the school lobby and at lunch for the "Cents for Sarcoma" fundraiser. Additional funds were raised from the Truman Garage Sale.

"We had a friendly grade level competition to see who could raise the most," stated Carol Stulce, second grade teacher who lost her son to sarcoma last year. "My family and I are so very touched and proud to be a part of Lindbergh."
