Sperreng Middle School teacher Carol Gloss enlisted the help of her math students recently to create a floor plan for her family’s new house. The Glosses lost their home and belongings in a fire last December and are in the process of rebuilding.
Students worked in groups to create house plans and then voted on their favorite. The project used concepts they have been learning in class such as ratio and proportion. Gloss said the winning designers built a 3-D version of the plan, which she presented to her architect at a planning meeting for the home.
